"Procession is the slowest month of the year," Chris Black, possessor of The Blue Door, a stylish downtown Fredericton eatery, says. "Everybody and their dog is away for springtime break or down south."
To counter late winter's chilling consequence, 15 capital city restaurants have banded together for the first Have a bite Around Freddy, a promotion even the most dollar-conscious epicure couldn't behind the times on. It kicks off today and runs until March 31.
For $25, patrons get a three-execution dinner: that's appetizer, entree and dessert, all for about the fee of a main course at your average mid-range eatery.
Moonless is originally from Vancouver, where a similar dine-around event has been growing on for years.
So when he got an email asking if the Blue Door was interested, "I was all for it," he says.
Not only just a chance to boost the number of bums in seats during the quietest together of year, Black hopes the event may entice diners who have never eaten at the downtown bistro, conclusion it too fancy, perhaps, or too pricey.
