Does anyone know if it is ok to use a tea kettle on an electric ceramic smooth cook-top stove...?

...w/o damaging the stove?
I would like a whistling tea kettle. Do you use one? What do you commend? We have a burner on the stove that is a warming burner so I could put the kettle on that after the water is hot and it will brace hot.

If you're having discompose with your current teakettle bouncing around on the warming burner, then it's right that you'll have trouble with a different metal teakettle bouncing around. If it were me, I'd try one of those crumb Corning Ware teapots made for stovetop use. It might not have the tendency to bounce around when on the warming burner.

Anyone for tea?

‘Tea function’ an erroneous moniker

Editor, The Times:

The Popular Tea Party Convention last weekend brings to mind objective how perfectly appropriate the name is to this movement [“Tea-party seminar a milestone,” page one, Feb. 5]. Like their predecessors tossing tea in Boston Harbor in December of 1773, they vow a righteous nonpolitical people’s movement against the authoritarianism of governmental oppression. In neither case is this actually true.

Most Americans into the Boston Tea Party was a protest against a British tax on tea. In truth, that tax dated back six years to 1767, so why the lengthy delay? Because the “party” was actually a avow against a seven-month-old British act that reduced tea taxes so that the less ill-tasting British tea became price-competitive with the less-desirable Dutch tea smuggled into the American colonies by men such as Samuel Adams — who organized the tea celebration to protect his business but promoted it to Bostonians as righteous exasperation.

Dee Blair: Un-English pajama games

I'm living in the asylum now, in a small "relatives room" equipped with a comfy sofa bed and, of circuit, a teakettle. I occupy it only to sleep, as I'm almost always at David's bedside. But a bit of San Quentin quail's gotta eat. Unfortunately, this small hospital has no cafeteria. One of a kind meals tailored to each patient's needs are brought in three times diurnal.

Ross-on-Wye's chain grocery, the size of Tom's Market, can be found at the move end of this lovely medieval town. It offers cooked chickens. I must have eaten 10,000 of these beasts, or parts thereof, and yet I still benefit the taste. The odd baked leg and wing are tucked behind the hospital curtain in a iciness spot. I warm them in the nurses' microwave oven. Sometimes I buy sliced ham, scissor it onto a acquiescent made salad, and add vinegar/oil dressing. Simple is good. I haven't interval for fancier fare.

Today, while David slept, I trotted down Ross' steeply descending record street (main streets in English villages/towns are "high-frequency") past a 700-year-old half-timbered construction, currently an antique shop, that appears to be melting in leisurely motion from the weight of centuries. I never get tired of looking at it.

The Tevana Menu

I have carefully conclude from the unexceptional Tevana menu.  More than once.  Okay, many times.  I reveal it.  And when the menu changed several months ago, I had to do another fastidious skim (er, reads) to bring to light everything new.  If there isn’t a Tevana purchase away you where you can pick up your own print of the menu to pore over, you can fritter away some lifetime at the Essential Tea Madden .

My darling of tea is not the only end I like reading Tevana’s menu.  The descriptions allow to pass for active reading.  For specimen, Kamiya Papaya Oolong is described in part as a “precocious tasting” tea “inspired by the sunshine and unexcitedly-affluent breezes of Hawaii.”   I’ve never heard a flavor described as “brilliant” before!

Or there’s Utopian Brilliant Oolong, a tea “cornucopia” with “red raspberries and strawberries radiat[ing] like jewels among the emerald leafy oolong leaves.”  Fruits and leaves as gemstones?  Amity it!
